ABK – AOTS DOSOKAI, Tamilnadu Centre, in association with the Mombusho Scholars Association of India (MOSAI), is organizing the Japanese Language Speech Contest – South Zone (Junior & Senior Categories) as per the revised 2026 guidelines.

About MOSAI Speech Contest

• The All India Japanese Language Speech Contest, launched in 1985 by MOSAI, aims to encourage students to express their own thoughts spontaneously in Japanese and is not a memorised speech competition.
• Speeches on religious or political topics are strictly prohibited
• Participants must be nominated through registered Japanese language institutions

Eligibility
• Age: 18 to 35 years (+ or – 6 months relaxation allowed)
• Categories based on learning hours:
• Junior: Up to 600 hours
• Senior: Up to 1500 hours
Participants must be nominated by
• University departments / affiliated colleges / centres
• Registered companies / societies / trusts (registration proof required)

Contest Format
• Speech duration: Maximum 4 minutes
• Followed by: 2 minute Q&A session
• Judges panel includes Japanese experts; decision is final
• Teachers of nominating institutions cannot be judges or question panel members

Evaluation Criteria
Each parameter carries 10 marks:
• Content (original thinking, structure)
• Delivery (fluency, expression, not memorized)
• Grammar & Vocabulary (level appropriate)
• Etiquette & Manner (Japanese speaking style)
• Questions & Answers

Important Rules
• No reading or consulting script (penalty applies)
• Exceeding time limit results in minus marks
• Participants must not reveal their name or institution during speech
• Any copied speech content will lead to disqualification

• Up to 3 students per category (subject to organizer discretion)
